Innovatum President Serving as 2014 Chair of AIM’s North American Healthcare Committee

AIM, the worldwide association for Automatic Identification and Mobility announced today that Innovatum’s President, Ardi Batmanghelidj, is serving as Chair for the North American Healthcare Committee in 2014.

The AIM North America Unique Device Identification (UDI) Committee was originally developed to provide guidance and best practices on the use of AIDC (automatic identification and data capture) technologies in the implementation of the FDA UDI and SNI initiatives. The Committee commented on the FDA UDI proposed rule and offered recommendations for a final UDI rule. The committee was renamed in 2013 to the AIM North America Healthcare Committee to signify that it is now handling a broader scope of topics related to AIDC within healthcare. It is working to develop and promote implementation models that are technologically and economically sensible and address the need for interoperability with current and emerging national and international regulations, with an emphasis on technological compatibility and affordability.

“I am honored to be part of a venerable organization that for 40 years has promoted sensible and forward looking use of technology. It is this same ethos that will guide us through the challenges of AIDC within healthcare, reaching its clear benefits at the other end. I look forward to providing a greater contribution in this role. ” Said Batmanghelidj.
