A chemical label is a safety control before it is packaging. It has to state the hazard in the language of the country it is sold into, and it has to say the same thing as the safety data sheet in the box.

What makes it hard.

The label and the SDS must agree.

Both derive from the same classification. When they are produced by different teams from different data, a reclassification updates one and not the other, and the mismatch is exactly what an inspection finds.

One framework, many jurisdictions.

GHS is implemented through regional law, so pictograms, signal words and precautionary statements vary between the EU, the US and other markets despite the shared structure.

Language is a legal requirement.

Hazard and precautionary statements must appear in the official language of the market of sale. For a product sold across Europe that is a large translated surface where nothing may be approximate.

Transport adds a second label.

Beyond the supply label, dangerous goods carry transport marking under the modal rules: road, rail, sea and air each with their own requirements.

Can the label and the safety data sheet be driven from one classification?

That is the point of holding the classification as one controlled record. Hazard statements, pictograms and precautionary text resolve from it for both the label and the SDS, so a reclassification reaches both from a single controlled change rather than two edits someone has to remember to keep in step.

How are agrochemical registration labels handled?

Plant protection products carry authorised label text that is approved as part of registration and varies by country. That approved content is held per market on the product record, in the same way other market-specific content is, so the printed label reflects what was authorised in the market of sale.
